On October 12th, I presented a new seminar called “Dangerous Access: Protecting Children from the Path of Pornography”. This free seminar was presented at a local church and several concerned parents and adults attended. In this seminar, I shared about the prevalence of pornography in our society and how easily children can access it. I shared documented destructive effects of pornography consumption, including how the brain is damaged by its excessive use. Tools and resources were shared, equipping concerned adults with the knowledge to protect children both externally and internally. Possible signs of addiction were shared and our YouthSTAR program was recommended as one local resource for teenagers who are addicted to pornography.
The evening ended with the challenge for all of us to do our part in raising the “community standard” regarding obscene material and fighting children’s easy access to pornography in our culture. Also, a resource page on this blog called “Children, Teens, and Parents” was created so that those who attended and others can access the recommended resources. Since this presentation was given in a church, some of these resources were from a faith-based perspective.
I am passionate about alerting concerned adults about the dangers of pornography and equipping them to do their part to battle for the freedom of young people, who can easily become addicted to this “new drug“. If you are interested in hearing this presentation or an adapted version for your audience (ie teenagers, non-religious, schools, camps, churches, etc), please contact me at (559) 323-8484.
We at LifeSTAR of the Central Valley care about our community and would be honored to share this valuable content with others.
