Great interview, Forest. I’m so glad you are shining a light on the connection between Childhood Emotional Neglect and Sexual Addiction. So many don’t realize that the Bible (as you know) alludes to this as well. David’s life is a case study in this. What he did (and what every sexually compulsive person does) is still sin but it isn’t driven ONLY by sin in the heart. It’s also driven by PAIN in the heart. In this case the very real pain of unmet needs from the first 15 formative years of life. Thank you for your work brother.

Russell, thank you for sharing your wisdom on this topic! I would love to unpack this more regarding David. I have definitely experienced this in my own life. The longer I do this work the more I see how much pain plays a role in addiction and fantasy. I love hearing from you Russell!
