Recovery is a process that lasts a lifetime. Those in long-term recovery, including program graduates, are equipped with many tools to maintain their healing but can have various life experiences that challenge their ability to maintain progress. Also, while increased ability to stay sober may be achieved by many, it is normal to experience long-term difficulties with connecting to others in deep and meaningful relationships, managing shame, handling stress and other emotional states, and working through unresolved trauma. Some may also find recovery difficult without the structure of the group, neglecting self-care and Dailies.
For these reasons, we are excited to start a new sexual addiction recovery group for men who have completed the LifeSTAR program or are in long-term recovery. This group will provide the following services:
- An experiential setting that facilitates deeper changes
- Recovery recommendations based on the recent science
- Opportunity to recommit to recovery structure
- Accountability & support
- Opportunities to deepen emotional connection with your Higher Power, your partner, others, and yourself
- A safe setting to work through childhood and addiction related shame
- The use of the new workbook called Healing Through Connection: The Blueprint for Long-term Recovery by Forest Benedict, MA, SATP, MFT Intern (see sample here)
Ultimately, this group is an opportunity for deeper healing for those who desire it. For those who are maintaining satisfactory progress, this group may not be for them. But for those stuck, relapsing, disconnected, transferring addictions, or wanting to go deeper, this group may be a great fit. This is not a group for “beginners”. Another new group is starting for those that fit the “beginner” category but this group is specifically for those who have attended an inpatient, outpatient, or other program that has enabled them learn the fundamentals of recovery.
Details: This will be a weekly group and the time is yet to be determined. Please let us know if you’re interested but have specific scheduling constraints. Group will be 1.5-2 hours depending on the size. The cost will be $200 per month and a sliding scale is available if needed. The group size will be limited to 8 participants.
